Courts of Uzbekistan and France sign agreement on cooperation
The agreement was signed within study visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan led by chairperson of Supreme Court Boritosh Mustafaev to France. The visit was organized within the EU project “Assisting to reforms in judicial-legal system of Uzbekistan”.
During the visit, the Uzbek delegation held negotiations at the Court of Cassation of France (Supreme Court), Court of the first instance of Paris and Ministry of Justice of France. During the meeting, the French side familiarized with reforms judicial-legal reforms in Uzbekistan, Jahon news agency reported.
At the meetings, the French side received information on fundamental legislation base, which ensure quality justice, etc. They also received information about abolishment of capital punishment and measures on improving work of courts and judicial system.
In its turn, the French side presented peculiarities of the French judicial system and criteria for assessment of efficiency of judges.
At the solemn ceremony, Supreme Court of Uzbekistan and Court of Cassation of France signed the agreement of cooperation.
Prime Chairperson of the Court of Cassation of France Vincent Lamanda said that the signed agreement plays key role for legal registration of cooperation between supreme courts of France and Uzbekistan. It will help to study judicial systems of each other.
He said that the Court of Cassation of France initiated similar cooperation with some other countries and he is happy to start practical cooperation with Uzbekistan.
He expressed hope that the cooperation between supreme courts of Uzbekistan and France will be effective and mutual beneficial.
