Court in Yangikurgan District Sentences Repeat Offender to 18 Years for Violence Against a Child

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Today, the Yangikurgan District Criminal Court announced its verdict in the case of B. S., born in 1987 in Namangan Region, a previously convicted individual recognized as a dangerous repeat offender. The case was heard in a closed session in accordance with Article 19 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the press service of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan reported.

The incident occurred on 14 October at around 9:00 p.m. in Yangikurgan District at the premises of a house hosting a wedding ceremony. The victim was a girl born in 2018. Following investigative measures, the suspect was apprehended promptly.

According to the verdict, B. S. was found guilty of crimes against the minor I. K., born in 2018, under the following articles: Part 1 of Article 112 (threat of murder or violence), Part 4 of Article 118 (violation of sexual integrity), and Part 4 of Article 119 (satisfaction of sexual needs in an unnatural way with the use of violence). The court sentenced him to 18 years of imprisonment.

Additionally, under Part 3 of Article 34 of the Criminal Code, B. S. was recognized as a particularly dangerous repeat offender. The first three years of the sentence are to be served in prison, with the remaining term to be served in high-security correctional colonies.

The parties have the right to appeal the court’s decision in the appellate or cassation instance of the Namangan Regional Court within the established time limits.
