Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During operational search measures conducted by the Ferghana Regional Department of the State Security Service and its Kokand branch, it was established that a local resident, born in 2003, was engaged in circulating counterfeit currency.

In a joint operation with the Kokand City Department of the General Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect was detained while selling counterfeit banknotes worth 50 million soums to an undercover buyer for 8 million soums in genuine money.

Subsequently, during a search of his residence in the presence of witnesses, counterfeit banknotes in denominations of 50,000, 100,000, and 200,000 soums totaling 315.5 million soums were found and seized, along with counterfeit US dollars amounting to US$120,000.

A criminal case has been initiated on charges of distributing counterfeit currency, and measures are being taken to identify the individuals who supplied the suspect with the fake money.
