Public Fund for support and development of independent mass media and information agencies of Uzbekistan organized the event in cooperation with International center for re-training of journalists. It was attended by representatives of NGOs and mass media, UzA reported.
The event underlined that that the role of NGOs and mass media is raising in Uzbekistan in the results of ongoing reforms.
Uzbekistan adopted several new laws and by-laws, which supports civil society institutes and ensure their free activities. Mass media play a key role in informing population on processes of development of civil society in Uzbekistan.
Senior specialist of the Public Fund for support and development of independent mass media and information agencies of Uzbekistan Mirvohid Mirkomilov said that the main goal of the event is to strengthen role of mass media in covering reforms in development of civil society in Uzbekistan, ensure openness and transparency of the activities of NGOs, etc.
At the meeting, the participants discussed issues of cooperation of NGOs and mass media in implementation of draft laws “On social partnership”, “On public control in Uzbekistan”, “On ecologic control” and “On openness of activities of the state bodies and administration”.
During the events the participants considered coverage of activities of NGOs in mass media, latest trends of legal and financial support of NGOs and mass media, and other issues.
