Convention on rights of persons with disabilities published in Uzbek language
The event was organized in cooperation with National Center for human rights of Uzbekistan and attended by MPs, representatives of the state bodies, public organizations, international organizations, specialists, etc.
UzA reported that the director of the National Center and chairperson of the committee of the lower house of the parliament Akmal Saidov and the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan Stefan Priesner participated at the presentation.
At the event, the reports on work on protection of rights and interests of people with disabilities, strengthening social partnership between state and public organizations in this directions were heard.
It was said that the publication of the convention in Uzbek language will help to familiarize with international standards on protection of rights and interests of people with disabilities, as well as expanding projects directed at protecting human interests.
The UN Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 13 December 2006. Uzbekistan signed the convention on 27 February 2009, but not ratified it yet.
