Construction of New 160 MVA Substation Started in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Construction has begun in the Yangihayot district of the capital on a new high-voltage substation with a capacity of 160 MVA.

The project is part of Tashkent’s energy infrastructure development and will provide the technological foundation for industrial facilities in the “Yangi Avlod” Special Industrial Zone.

The new substation will supply electricity to zone residents, improve power stability for local residents, and create additional capacity reserves for new enterprises.

The facility will feature two transformers of 80 MVA each and ten distribution units. Each unit can connect approximately twenty facilities. Dedicated high-voltage cells will be provided for industrial zone residents, minimizing the risk of power outages and increasing supply reliability.

Currently, the construction of the substation building and the design of distribution nodes are underway. The commissioning of the facility is scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.

The “Yangi Avlod” Special Industrial Zone was established by Presidential Decree No. PP-138 on March 20, 2024. Residents benefit from tax and customs incentives, as well as other privileges provided for participants of free economic zones.
