Comprehensive Measures Implemented to Develop Tourism Potential in Navoi Region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A set of comprehensive measures aimed at developing tourism, ensuring the effective use of existing potential, and improving the quality of tourism services has been carried out in the Navoi region with the participation of the Republican Working Group led by Azizbek Akkulov, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the tourism industry.
As part of the visit, the working group traveled to the Yangiqazgan aul in the Konimex district, where a concept for transforming the area into a “tourist aul” was presented. Discussions focused on the district’s current tourism potential, prospective projects, and initiatives to develop tourism infrastructure.
Members of the working group also visited the Nurata district, where they reviewed presentations on historical and cultural heritage sites, natural and recreational zones, opportunities for the development of pilgrimage and eco-tourism, the current state of infrastructure, and promising projects. Particular attention was paid to the creation of new tourist routes, expansion of service offerings, development of family-run guesthouses, and the creation of new jobs.
The working group further familiarized itself with the condition of the historic kyarizes of the Nurata district, one of the oldest water supply systems in Central Asia. Projects were presented to transform the kyarizes, including a site located in the Nurfakhr mahalla, into tourist attractions. These initiatives envisage measures to preserve historical heritage, develop service infrastructure, create jobs, and improve adjacent areas.
During the visit, recommendations were also provided on the development of family guesthouses in the tourist mahallas of Langar and Angidon in the Khatyrchi district, as well as on the development of medical tourism in the Oltinsay mahalla. The implementation of these initiatives is intended to expand the tourism potential of the areas, increase employment, and enhance the quality of tourism services.
An open dialogue with entrepreneurs was also organized, bringing together more than 50 representatives of business, including tour operators, artisans, hospitality and restaurant sector representatives, transport companies, and museum institutions.
The meeting was attended by representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, the Agency for Cultural Heritage, the Agency for Increasing Forest and Green Areas and Combating Desertification, the Navoi regional khokimiyat, and other institutions.
During the dialogue, participants discussed issues related to the effective use of the potential of safari tourism, eco-tourism, pilgrimage, historical and cultural, gastronomic, and handicraft tourism, as well as tasks aimed at improving tourism infrastructure and service quality.
In a presentation delivered by Azizbek Akkulov, Head of the Republican Working Group, the results of tourism development efforts in the Navoi region in 2025 were outlined in detail, along with priority directions for the sector’s development in 2026.
Based on the outcomes of the events and taking into account the proposals and recommendations expressed, specific measures and objectives were identified to further advance the tourism industry in the Navoi region.
