Competition Committee Launches Case Against Maksimum Sement for Unfair Use of Brand
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Competition Committee has initiated a case of unfair competition against Maksimum Sement, the agency’s press service reported.
The complaint, submitted to the supervisory authority in Khorezm, came from cement manufacturer Karakalpak Sement and concerned the unauthorized use of its trademark by Maksimum Sement.
The investigation confirmed the illegal use of the brand, which could have damaged Karakalpak Sement’s reputation.
Additionally, it was found that in July 2025, Maksimum Sement sold cement bags labeled as 50 kg while the actual weight was 48 kg. These actions were deemed consumer deception and unjust enrichment, amounting to 1.56 million soms.
Following the inspection, a special commission filed a case against the company for violations of the “Competition” and “Consumer Rights Protection” laws.
Maksimum Sement has been instructed to reimburse the unlawfully obtained income, pay a financial penalty, and remedy the identified violations.
