Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) –– At the initiative of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Japan, a charity fundraising campaign was held to help patients with coronavirus infection in Uzbekistan, health workers involved in the fight against COVID-19, as well as necessary assistance to socially vulnerable segments of the population.
As part of this action, our compatriots living in Japan, as well as the circle of friends of Uzbekistan from among the members of the Japan-Uzbekistan Friendship Association, the administration of the Nagoya City Hall made their contribution by transferring funds.
The total amount of funds raised was 1,225,500.00 Japanese yen, or $11,302.23.
On 15 May, these funds were transferred to the account of the Charity and Health of Uzbekistan Public Fund.
At the same time, the Association of Uzbek Youth in Japan (UYAJ) also promptly responded and organized fundraising for the material and moral support of the flood-affected population in Syrdarya region.
The association raised funds and through partners directly in Syrdarya region procured and distributed essential necessities to the population of the affected areas.
