Collaboration between Innovation Ministry and NASA to stimulate women in STEM-education
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Innovation Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with the NASA National Space Station Aeronautics and Space Exploration Program researcher Camilla Wordron Alleyne.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of science, including the promotion of “STEM” education of women. The meeting was also attended by employees of the US Embassy in Uzbekistan. Guests were received by a senior adviser to the Minister of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Mr. Heinz spoke about the main tasks of the Ministry, as a body that implements a unified state policy in the field of innovation and scientific and technological development of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He dwelt on the priority directions of innovation development.
Ellein, in her turn, was aware of the priority directions of innovative development, designated by the Government of the Republic. Also, the American side was informed about the role of the Innovation Development Support Fund and innovative ideas created by the Ministry of Innovation to assist in the implementation of the above objectives.
The Uzbek side expressed interest in studying the American experience in matters of bilateral cooperation in the field of science, promoting STEM-education of women.
Heinz also noted that the ministry is ready for the further development of relations between the Ministry of Innovation Development and NASA.
Within the framework of this meeting, the documentary film “Higher and Higher: NASA’s Journey to the Future” was shown at the Center for Advanced Technologies under the Ministry of Innovation Development, which addresses the role of NASA both in the United States and for the entire planet. After the show, a discussion took place with the participation of Camilla Alleyne.
