CIS Games: Uzbekistan national team wins 27 medals
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s national team achieved its best-ever result at the 3rd Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Games, held in Azerbaijan.
By the end of the competitions on 5 October, Uzbek athletes had won a total of 27 medals — 10 gold, 6 silver, and 11 bronze — marking the country’s most successful performance in the history of the CIS Games.
Gold medals were won by Nazokat Mardanova (boxing, up to 50 kg), Sabina Mirzaeva (boxing, up to 52 kg), Kumriniso Imamalieva (boxing, up to 54 kg), Farzuna Ruziyeva (boxing, up to 57 kg), Rushanabonu Isaeva (boxing, up to 62 kg), Zarina Bobonazarova (judo, over 70 kg), Alibek Durdiev (judo, over 90 kg), the men’s sabre fencing team (team event), Ozodbek Alijonov (freestyle wrestling, up to 55 kg), and Jamshid Yusupov (freestyle wrestling, up to 80 kg).
Silver medals were earned by Saodat Karabaeva (judo, up to 48 kg), Musurmonkul Ahrorov (judo, up to 90 kg), the women’s épée fencing team (team event), Bonu Egamberdieva (karate, up to 68 kg), Nafisa Shomurotova (women’s wrestling, up to 43 kg), and Javokhir Sokhibov (shooting, 10 m air rifle).
Bronze medals went to Mokhinur Olloberganova (judo, up to 40 kg), Alina Kolyuchyova (judo, up to 44 kg), Nigina Umurzakova (judo, up to 52 kg), Maftuna Akhmedova (judo, up to 57 kg), Zukhra Umarova (judo, up to 63 kg), Dilshod Karimov (judo, up to 60 kg), Sanjarbek Ashurov (judo, up to 66 kg), Sadulla Ravshanov (judo, up to 73 kg), Mokharoyim Hakimjonova (karate, over 68 kg), Shukhratjon Namozov (karate, up to 84 kg), and Ibrokhim Aliev (freestyle wrestling, up to 65 kg).
