Chinese Investors Discuss Project to Produce Medicines and Dietary Supplements from Local Plants in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 7 October 2025, the Director of the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry, Abdulla Azizov, met with Wang Jun, Chairman of Guoju Medical Technology, and Qian Tie, President of the Tianjin Shenlong Herb Medicine Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Research Institute.

During the talks, the parties discussed the implementation of a project in the Jizzakh region and the possibility of establishing production of pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements (vitamins and herbal products) based on medicinal plants cultivated in Uzbekistan.

At the first stage, the Chinese investors plan to create a research and laboratory complex for scientific studies and the development of new drugs (R&D). In addition, the company intends to establish scientific cooperation with the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan. The second phase of the project envisions setting up production of finished pharmaceutical products based on the outcomes of these studies.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to continue cooperation and to explore the possibility of locating laboratory and production facilities within the Tashkent Pharma Park cluster, as well as allocating land plots for cultivating medicinal plants across the country. The Chinese side will present a “roadmap” defining the project’s implementation stages, timelines, and key areas of collaboration.
