Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ms. Jiang Yan, kindly agreed to talk with the Dunyo correspondent and talk about joint measures taken by the authorities of the two countries to prevent the spread of the coronavirus epidemic.

“I take this opportunity, I would like to inform you about the situation with the fight against coronavirus in China,” said Ms. Jiang Yan. - Our state attaches great importance to the prevention and localization of the epidemic caused by coronavirus. Chairman Xi Jinping personally twice held meetings of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee to study the fight against the epidemic and commissioned the creation of a steering group led by State Council Prime Minister Li Keqiang.

The Chinese government has taken comprehensive and unprecedentedly tough measures, such as the use of emergency response mechanisms throughout the country, the construction and reconstruction of hospitals in Wuhan, where the largest number of cases have been identified, the mobilization of medical resources throughout the country to support Wuhan, the development of a vaccine and others .

The measures taken give positive results. In some provinces, the number of people infected with the virus has already begun to decline. As of February 6, 1,557 people were discharged from hospitals. This indicates that pneumonia caused by coronavirus can be prevented, localized and cured. Therefore, there is no reason to panic.

As stated by the World Health Organization (WHO), “there is no need to take measures that unnecessarily interfere with international travel and trade. Prevention is necessary, but overreaction should be avoided. ”

Panic is worse than the virus itself. We hope that the countries of the world, based on WHO professional recommendations, understand and support the efforts of the Chinese government to combat the epidemic, objectively and reasonably respond to the epidemic in order to effectively deal with it on the one hand, and not to put artificial barriers for normal contacts between people and practical cooperation, on the other hand. Indeed, the fight against the epidemic in China is a contribution to ensuring global security in the field of public health.

I want to emphasize that in the fight against the epidemic we received support from our Uzbek partners. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent a letter expressing support to President Xi Jinping. The Prime Minister, representatives of the Oliy Majlis, the Foreign Ministry and other departments of Uzbekistan expressed support for the measures taken by China.

In this difficult time, we felt great concern from ordinary Uzbek citizens. For example, an Uzbek student studying in the Chinese city of Guangzhou and on vacation in his homeland bought medical masks and medicines, personally brought them to China.

Uzbek diasporas living in Wuhan and other cities in China filmed videos expressing sympathy and support for the Chinese people. A friend in need is a friend indeed. All these touching moments will be inscribed in the history of the development of Sino-Uzbek relations.

I am sure that by joint efforts we will certainly win a final victory over this epidemic.
