Chinese Ambassador Holds Meeting with Journalists to Celebrate Spring Festival
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Uzbekistan organized a meeting with media representatives to mark the arrival of the traditional Spring Festival, the Chinese New Year according to the lunar calendar.
The central event of the gathering was a speech by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Uzbekistan, Yu Jun, who emphasized the important role of the media in strengthening mutual understanding and developing friendly relations between the peoples of the two countries.
“The media serves as a bridge connecting peoples and fostering deeper mutual trust. Uzbek media actively cover developments in China and China–Uzbekistan cooperation, making a significant contribution to strengthening the friendship between our countries,” the diplomat noted.
The Ambassador highlighted that 2025 marked an important stage in the development of China and Uzbekistan, as well as in strengthening their comprehensive all-weather strategic partnership. He recalled meetings between Chinese President Xi Jinping and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, which contributed to deepening political dialogue and mutual trust.
Yu Jun noted the dynamic growth of bilateral cooperation in trade and economic, investment, and humanitarian spheres. China remains Uzbekistan’s largest trade and investment partner, with trade turnover exceeding US$17 billion and more than 5,000 Chinese enterprises registered in the country.
The speech also outlined priority areas for further cooperation, including the development of green energy, digital technologies, industrial cooperation, vocational education, tourism, environmental initiatives, and scientific collaboration.
As part of the event, journalists were presented with a cultural program showcasing traditional Chinese arts, calligraphy, music, crafts, and new publications in Chinese literature, allowing participants to gain closer insight into China’s cultural heritage and Spring Festival traditions.
In conclusion, the Chinese Ambassador expressed confidence in the continued strengthening of China–Uzbekistan relations and reaffirmed readiness to expand cooperation across various sectors in 2026.
