China, Uzbekistan agree to boost security, law enforcement cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- China and Uzbekistan pledged to boost cooperation on security and law enforcement so as to help maintain regional peace and stability, Xinhua reported.

The "three evil forces" of terrorism, extremism and separatism remain the major threat to regional security, the two sides said in a joint declaration issued during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s ongoing state visit to this Central Asian country.

In order to fight the "three evil forces," drug-trafficking and other transnational crimes, the two sides vowed to further strengthen coordination and cooperation between their security and law enforcement agencies.

Meanwhile, they also agreed to further enhance cooperation and exchanges on large event security, pipeline security, personnel training, special equipment and others.

The two countries also expressed willingness to continue military cooperation with the purpose of effectively coping with national and regional challenges and threats.

Recognizing that the stability and security of Central Asia are closely related with the Afghanistan situation, the two sides said they stand ready to join UN-led efforts to build Afghanistan into a peaceful, stable and independent country.

They also pledged to further promote cooperation within such multilateral frameworks as the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to contribute to regional and global peace, stability, security and development.
