China Eastern Airlines Launches Direct Shanghai–Tashkent Flights
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — China Eastern Airlines has expanded its presence in Uzbekistan by launching regular passenger flights on the Shanghai–Tashkent–Shanghai route.
The first flight, MU6037, arrived at Tashkent International Airport on March 30 at 18:00 local time, carrying 265 passengers. Upon arrival, the aircraft was greeted with a traditional water salute, and flowers were presented to the crew and passengers to mark the occasion. Registration for the inaugural return flight from Tashkent to Shanghai also opened the same day.
The new route directly connects China’s largest metropolis with Uzbekistan’s capital, offering travelers enhanced opportunities for tourism, business, and cultural exchange. Flights will operate four times weekly — Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays — using modern and comfortable Airbus A330 aircraft. Flight time is approximately eight hours.
Founded in 1988 with headquarters in Shanghai, China Eastern Airlines is one of China’s leading carriers. The airline first began operations in Uzbekistan in July of the previous year with the Xi’an–Tashkent–Xi’an route, which has already proven popular among passengers.
