Children Will Receive Cardiac Surgeries Based on U.S. Experience In Ferghana
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Hokim of Ferghana Region, Khayrullo Bozorov, met with William Novick, head of the international charitable organization Global Cardiac Alliance, and Alisher Dadaboev, Associate Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina (USA) and co-founder of the Uzbek-American Medical Association.
Since its founding in 1993, Global Cardiac Alliance has performed over 10,000 cardiac surgeries across 35 countries.
In Uzbekistan, several significant projects are being implemented under the program to enhance pediatric cardiology services. Notably, in September 2023, with the participation of 22 specialists from nine countries, 60 children with congenital heart defects were successfully operated on.
During the meeting, the regional head was presented with the results of these initiatives. Alisher Dadaboev emphasized that the goal of the project is not only to perform surgeries in Ferghana but also to develop, within three to five years, a team of local cardiac surgeons trained in modern American surgical techniques.
Khayrullo Bozorov expressed readiness to provide comprehensive support for the initiative, create necessary conditions, and instructed responsible officials to take concrete measures.
The meeting was also attended by Bobur Primkulov, head of the regional health department.
