Child mortality decreases 3.2 times in Uzbekistan – Health Ministry
Implementation of “Mother and child screening” programme helped Uzbekistan to reduce the incidence of children born with congenital abnormalities.
Currently, 92% of children in Uzbekistan in terms of development fully meet the standards of the World Health Organization.
According to the data of Ministry of Health, for the last 5 years the birth rate of children with abnormal development decreased by 1.3 times.
The incidence of acute respiratory viral infections among children 6-15 years decreased by 9.7%, pneumonia - by 49.1%, bronchitis - by 32.8%, scoliosis - by 32.7%.
The ministry said that the volume of resources, allocated from budget, to healthcare system is increasing each year. In 2012, the budget allocated 2.8 trillion soums to the sector, the figure reached 3.4 trillion soums in 2013. This year, the sector will receive 4.3 trillion soums this year.
The volume of investments rose 3.8 times in 2013 compared to 2010.This helped to reconstruct and construct 295 medical institutions.
