Child Drowns in Private Kindergarten Pool in Mirzachul

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A tragic incident occurred on 24 October 2025, at the private preschool “Mehrli Yulduz” in Mirzachul District, operating under a public-private partnership, the Regional Department of Preschool and School Education reported on 30 October.

According to preliminary information, a child, H. F. D., born on 5 May 2024, was left unsupervised on the premises, fell into the pool, and drowned.

Official inspections are underway, and a criminal case has been opened under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The district prosecutor’s office is conducting the investigation.

Surayyo Rakhmanova, the children’s ombudsman, stated that on 27 October a criminal case was initiated under Article 116 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, which provides for liability for improper performance of professional duties.
