Chief Legal Advisor of “Unified Customer Service” Detained on Bribery Charges
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A criminal case has been opened in Tashkent Region against the Chief Legal Advisor of the State Institution “Unified Customer Service.”
According to reports, in December 2024, during an inspection of a newly commissioned preschool facility in Bekabad District, the prosecutor’s office discovered a shortage totaling 176 million soms.
A criminal case was initiated against officials of the contracting organization under Article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (embezzlement or misappropriation), and a document audit was conducted.
The Tashkent Regional Administration reported that the Chief Legal Advisor, using his official connections, demanded a bribe of USD 8,400 from the head of the contracting LLC in exchange for a positive inspection report.
Officers from the State Security Service of Tashkent Region detained the suspect while receiving the agreed-upon amount.
A criminal case has been opened against him under Articles 168, Part 3, Clause “b” and 28, as well as Article 211, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan. Arrest has been chosen as a preventive measure, and investigative actions are ongoing.
