Chevening programme helps Uzbek specialists to study at British universities
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 September, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom Christopher Allan handed over certificates to the winners of Chevening Scholarship Program, who will soon begin their studies at leading universities in the UK.

Chevening Scholarships are awarded to individuals with demonstrable leadership potential who also have strong academic backgrounds. The scholarship offers full financial support for future leaders to study for any eligible master’s degree at any UK university whilst gaining access to a wide range of exclusive academic, professional, and cultural events. Since 1994, about 200 specialists have become Chevening scholarship holders in Uzbekistan.

This year, after several stages of a complex competitive selection, eight specialists working in a variety of spheres became holders of the Chevening scholarship in Uzbekistan.

The winners will study in such British universities as UCL, City University of London, London School of Economics and Political Science, Queen Mary University of London, Cardiff University, Bristol University, University of Surrey, Birkbeck University of London.

Uzbek students will study various disciplines, such as pedagogy and curriculum development, jurisprudence, music, public policy, air transportation management, education, energy and finance.

In addition, one Uzbek specialist also successfully won research scholarship Chevening OCIS Fellowship, which provides an opportunity to conduct a short-term study at the Center for Islamic Studies of Oxford University. Only three candidates selected for this scholarship among representatives of 31 countries.
