Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Experts from the Institute of Macroeconomic and Regional Studies under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (IMRI) conducted a monitoring of food prices for 21 products in the largest supermarket chains in Tashkent in December 2024.
The results of the monitoring showed that the minimum prices for 10 products decreased compared to the previous month*.
Specifically, the price of table beet dropped by 21.8%, lemons by 16.7%, red carrots by 14.4%, buckwheat by 10.7%, sugar by 2.8%, rice by 2.8%, milk by 2.8%, bananas by 2.0%, beef (filet) by 1.7%, and wheat flour by 0.6%.
For 10 products, the minimum prices increased. The price of white cabbage saw the largest rise. However, the price of white cabbage in Tashkent is the lowest among the capitals of Central Asian countries. In comparison, the price in Dushanbe is twice as high, in Astana 1.7 times higher, and in Bishkek 1.2 times higher.
Prices for cucumbers also increased significantly. However, compared to the same period last year, cucumber prices are 4.3% lower.
For one product (margarine), the minimum price remained unchanged.
