Change of emergency numbers kicks off in Uzbekistan
The country adopted plans for introduction single phone numbers for emergency services and prefixes for making ling-distance and international calls.
In particular, the State Communication Committee adopted a plan on transferring emergency services call numbers from 0x to 10x (for example, 01 to 101) and 0xx to 10xx in the regions of the country.
There is also a plan in transferring prefixes for long-distance and international calls from 8 to 0 and from 810 to 00 in the regions of Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan also carries out work on updating software and reconstruction of communication stations in line with NGN technology.
The State Communication Committee of Uzbekistan started to inform regions on start of the work on transferring numbers of emerging services from 0x to 10x and from 0xx to 10xx.
In October 2014, it is planned to inform about replacement of prefixes of long-term distance calls and international calls from 8 to 0 and 8-10 to 00. At the same time, the old prefixes will be available for time being.
The committee said that introduction of new numbers of emergency services and new prefixes will ensure that Uzbekistan will use international principles of numeration.
