Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan: Combating Corruption Is a Nationwide Task

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 25 December 2025, Tanzila Norboyeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and of the National Council for Combating Corruption, addressed the people of Uzbekistan with a statement underscoring the importance of fighting corruption and strengthening justice in the country.

In her address, Norboyeva noted that the reforms implemented in Uzbekistan in recent years are aimed at building an open, just, and humane state in which citizens receive services from the state, rather than the other way around.

At the same time, corruption remains one of the main obstacles to these transformations.

According to the Chairperson, since 2017 the country has established a systemic legal framework and institutional mechanisms to counter corruption: the Anti-Corruption Agency, relevant parliamentary committees and commissions in local councils, and the National Council for Combating Corruption, which ensures public oversight and coordinates the work of government bodies.

New mechanisms are being introduced to fight corruption, including new procedures for entering public service, and the digitalization of processes in healthcare, education, construction, public utilities, and the banking and energy sectors.

These efforts help prevent misallocation of funds and increase the transparency of the management of state resources.

Norboyeva emphasized that the fight against corruption is the responsibility of society as a whole. Active participation by citizens, mahallas, young people, women, elders, and civil society institutions is a key factor in the success of the reforms.

“Our strength lies in unity, truth, and responsibility. If we continue on this path, we will undoubtedly overcome corruption,” she concluded.
