Chairperson of the Senate Meets with ILO Regional Director in Geneva

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, held a meeting in Geneva with Beata Andres, Director of the ILO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia.

During the discussion, the parties exchanged views on ongoing labor reforms in Uzbekistan and measures to improve labor legislation in line with the latest recommendations of the International Labour Organization. Beata Andres particularly noted the country’s consistent policy on poverty reduction and ensuring decent working conditions for its citizens.

The sides also highlighted the significance of the appointment of Yuri Shterk as Senior Coordinator and the initiative to open an ILO country office in Uzbekistan as an important step in strengthening long-term cooperation.

The dialogue included discussions on the development of the Country Programme for Decent Work 2026–2030, as well as expanding joint efforts to enhance the skills of employers, trade unions, and labor inspection specialists.
