CERR and the Office of Counselors of the State Council of the PRC Discuss New Areas of Analytical Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held in Tashkent at the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) with a delegation from the Office of Counselors of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, led by Counselor Chang Zhile.

The purpose of the talks was to develop proposals for expanding Uzbek–Chinese scientific, analytical, and research cooperation. The Uzbek side presented the results of socio-economic transformations being implemented within the frameworks of the “New Uzbekistan” and “Uzbekistan–2030” strategies, as well as analytical assessments by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms on key areas of economic development.

Representatives of the Office of Counselors of the State Council of the PRC noted the progress achieved through the reforms, including in poverty reduction, improvement of the investment climate, infrastructure development, and strategic planning.

The importance of the all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China, enshrined in the Joint Statement by the leaders of the two countries in January 2024, was emphasized.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on prospects for expanding analytical cooperation, including issues of industrial development, supply chain management, poverty reduction, climate change adaptation, and sustainable agricultural development.

The possibility of conducting joint research on the “China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan” railway corridor project in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative was also discussed separately.

As a result of the talks, the parties agreed to further deepen scientific and analytical cooperation, elaborate formats for collaboration, and prepare a Memorandum of Understanding providing for joint research initiatives and the exchange of experience in priority sectors of the economy.
