Central Banks of Uzbekistan and Korea Agree to Conduct Joint Research on Balance of Payments and Capital Flows

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited the Bank of Korea to participate in an interim seminar under the Knowledge Sharing Program implemented between the two central banks.

The event brought together representatives of the Bank of Korea, professors from Hongik University and Dongguk University, as well as the Uzbek delegation.

During the seminar, participants exchanged experiences and discussed issues related to economic policy, balance of payments, capital movements, and financial stability. Experts presented models for assessing Uzbekistan’s current account, measures to prevent currency crises, and findings from research on regional financial cooperation.

In addition, the Uzbek delegation held a meeting with Min Soo Kwon, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Korea.

The parties agreed to further deepen cooperation, enhance the research capacity of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, and expand experience sharing in the areas of foreign exchange control and international reserves management.

It was also agreed that the final stage of the program will take place in Tashkent in January 2026.
