Central Asian International Environmental Forum starts in Tashkent

The main theme of CAIEF 2018: "Strengthening cooperation in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development". The Forum is organized by the Government of Uzbekistan, the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Environmental Protection, the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC).

The aim of CAIEF 2018 is to jointly formulate a strategy for sustainable development of the region and to help strengthen the dialogue between the state, international development organizations, the scientific community, civil society and business.

"Our goal is to create an effective platform for working out coordinated practical measures, aimed at solving regional problems by bringing together all stakeholders, including business and the scientific community," Bahrom Kuchkarov, Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Ecology and Environmental Protection, said.

"CAIEF provides an opportunity for countries to bring together positions, outline real projects that really solve problems," Executive Director of CAREC, Dr. Iskandar Abdullayev said. "Over the past year, cooperation in Central Asia has improved significantly, for example, on water issues. The political will led to the fact that we now consider water not as a matter of disagreement, but as a matter of cooperation, and this all gives the opportunity to solve problems together. It should also be taken into account that by restoring cooperation, we are restoring our economic potential. "

The official opening ceremony of CAIEF 2018 will be held on 5 June at the Hyatt Regency Tashkent Hotel. Representatives of the Central Asian and Afghan agencies on environmental issues, international organizations, foreign countries, as well as the organizers of the forum, will address the ceremony.

Further, the work of the forum will continue in the mode of presentations and discussions. The main thematic areas of CAMEP 2018:

• Conservation of biodiversity and development of a network of protected natural areas;
• Integrated management of solid domestic waste;
• Renewable energy and energy efficiency.

  Also within the framework of the forum, on 5 June, the first Specialized Exhibition and Business Forum of Green Technologies Green Ecology Technologies Central Asia - GETCA-2018 will be opened.

  The exhibition will unite 40 well-known manufacturers and developers in the field of green technologies from Armenia, Hungary, Germany, Italy, China, the Republic of Korea, Russia, Uzbekistan, France, the Czech Republic, Latvia and Switzerland.

  At the exhibition will be presented: special equipment for the management of solid domestic waste; clean production and consumption technologies; renewable energy and energy efficiency.

  On the eve of the forum, media tours for unique places of Tashkent and Surkhandarya regions were organized for representatives of foreign media, expressing interest in CAIEF in 2018, for acquaintance with the rich history, flora and fauna, and the natural heritage of Uzbekistan.

  It is expected that the Central Asian International Environmental Forum 2018 will help bring regional cooperation to a new level and intensify joint efforts of countries in solving environmental problems. The Forum will help to identify priority and possible investment solutions for the development of renewable energy, waste processing and nature protection in general, as well as the coherence of actions to be taken on the basis of discussions, to link them to the global environmental agenda.
