Centers for sanitary-epidemiological control receive new equipment

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan implements project “Equipment of the Centers for state sanitary-epidemiological control of Uzbekistan with laboratory equipment”.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution “On measures on implementation of the project “Equipment of the Centers for state sanitary-epidemiological control of Uzbekistan with laboratory equipment” on 24 December 2014.

The document was adopted to ensure sanitary-epidemiological well-being of population, as well as strengthening material-technical base of the Centers for state sanitary-epidemiological control of Uzbekistan with equipping laboratory equipment.

The resolution said that Uzbekistan and Islamic Development Bank (IDB) signed an agreement on purchase for US$17.44 million with down payments to implement the project. The agreement was signed for 14 years, including four-year grace period.

Uzbekistan’s contribution to implementation of the project will make up US$11.03 million, including tax and customs preferences for US$3.83 million and own resources of the Centers for state sanitary-epidemiological control for US$3.7 million.

In line with the agreement, the project will be implemented within four years – 2015-2018.

Ministry of Healthcare of Uzbekistan is an executive body, which is responsible for efficient realization of the project.

Republican foreign economic state enterprise O‘zmedexport of the Ministry Healthcare of Uzbekistan is a contractor on the contract.

Expenses, related to repayment of resources of the Islamic Development Bank, will be covered due to the State Budget of Uzbekistan.

Uzbek leader exempted goods, works and services, as well as vehicles, purchased due to resources of the IDB (except registration fees), VAT, mandatory payments to the state funds.

Uzbek President also provided tax preferences to individuals and legal entities, which will participate in realization of the project.
