Center for Economic Research: Passenger Car Sales in Uzbekistan Fell by 9.5% in August
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Center for Economic Research and Reforms has released an updated review of Uzbekistan’s automobile market.
According to the organization’s data, passenger car sales showed a moderate decline in August. A total of 90,000 vehicles were sold last month, which is 9.5% less compared to July.
The sharpest drop in sales was recorded in Tashkent, Khorezm, and Kashkadarya regions. At the same time, growth was observed in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as in Syrdarya and Andijan regions.
In the primary market of new cars, a slight decline was registered in August — sales amounted to 37,600 units, down 2% from the previous month.
Domestically produced cars maintained their dominant position, with 32,600 units sold, only 0.8% lower than in July. Sales of new foreign-made cars fell more significantly, to 4,900 units, or 9.4% less than the previous month.
The secondary passenger car market remained relatively stable in August, with 52,700 units sold, although this figure was 14.3% lower compared to July.
Particular attention is drawn to the electric vehicle segment: 2,700 such cars were sold on the secondary market, just 0.6% higher than in July. However, compared to last year, sales increased 4.6 times.
