Ceasefire Agreement Between Israel and Hamas Comes into Effect

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Hamas movement came into effect at 12:00 on October 10, according to a statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) press service.

Under the terms of the agreement, Israeli troops have taken up positions along the designated lines of deployment and are preparing for the return of hostages.

Once the ceasefire takes effect, a 72-hour countdown begins for the release of those held captive.

Earlier, the Israeli government approved what it described as a “deal for the release of all hostages — both living and deceased.”

According to the agreement, Israeli forces will withdraw from the central areas of Gaza, retaining control over 53 percent of the enclave’s territory.

Government spokesperson Shosh Bedrosian specified that within the 72-hour window, all hostages will be returned home.

Earlier, Uzbekistan welcomed the ceasefire and the release of hostages, emphasizing that this development should serve as a step toward a long-term political settlement ensuring security and sustainable coexistence between the parties.
