Cause of Sergeli Bus Fire Identified in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The press service of Toshshahartransxizmat has provided details on the bus fire that occurred on the evening of 6 April in Tashkent’s Sergeli district.

According to the company, the incident took place at 18:45 on Yangi Sergeli Street and involved a 2012 Mercedes-Benz Low Floor bus operating on route No. 143. Preliminary findings indicate that the fire was caused by an electrical wiring short circuit while the bus was in motion.

The driver attempted to extinguish the fire on his own, but the flames continued to spread. Fire and rescue teams that arrived at the scene promptly extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported, although the bus sustained technical damage.

The company added that an internal investigation is underway with the involvement of its technical control service. The vehicle will only be returned to service after all identified faults have been fully eliminated.
