Car Collides with Passenger Train in Khorezm Region, Driver Hospitalized

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A road traffic accident occurred on 1 January at approximately 2:50 p.m. on the 21st kilometer of highway 9v-012, which runs through the Shavat district, the press service of the Road Safety Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

Preliminary information indicates that the driver of a 1995-born Cobalt vehicle, traveling in the direction of Shavat to Urgench, ignored the requirements of Articles 116 and 117 of the Traffic Rules. Despite a red traffic light and clearly posted road signs, he entered an unguarded railway crossing without yielding to passenger train No. 124.

As a result, the train collided with the car. The driver sustained injuries and was taken to a medical facility.

An initial investigation into the incident is currently underway.
