Cannavaro: Uzbekistan to Make First Appearance at 2026 World Cup, Faces Tough Group

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Fabio Cannavaro, head coach of the Uzbekistan national football team, shared his impressions following the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw.

“We have qualified for the World Cup for the first time in history. This will be a tremendous experience for our players. My task is to fulfill my responsibilities with full commitment and ensure that the team enjoys the process,” Cannavaro said.

Uzbekistan was drawn into Group K, where it will face Portugal, Colombia, and the winner of the intercontinental playoff between New Caledonia, Jamaica, and Congo.

The head coach emphasized that every match will be extremely important, and the team is ready to fight until the end, relying on young and promising players. “This is the main strength of the Uzbek people,” Cannavaro added.
