Cannavaro Announces Uzbekistan Squad for Friendly Match Against Uruguay
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Head coach of the Uzbekistan national football team Fabio Cannavaro has announced the squad for the upcoming friendly match against Uruguay, scheduled for October 13 in Kuala Lumpur. The Italian coach made significant changes compared to the previous call-up, excluding eight players.
According to the coaching staff’s decision, the following players were left out this time: Mukhammadrasul Abdumajidov (Pakhtakor), Umarali Rakhmonaliev (Sabah, Azerbaijan), Nodir Abdurazzakov (AGMK), Anvar Khojimirzaev (Dinamo), Rustam Turdimurodov (Surkhan), as well as Farrukh Sayfiev (Neftchi), Odiljon Hamrobekov (Tractor, Iran), and Abbosbek Fayzullaev (Başakşehir, Turkey).
According to the Uzbekistan Football Association’s press service, three of them — Sayfiev, Hamrobekov, and Fayzullaev — will miss the match due to injuries. The remaining players were omitted for tactical reasons.
In their place, Cannavaro called up several new players, including forwards Ruslan Zhiyanov (Navbahor) and Khusain Norchaev (Nasaf). For both, this is their first call-up to the national team under the Italian coach.
“We want to test as many players as possible in different game situations. This friendly match will help us assess the potential of new players,” Cannavaro stated.
The match between Uzbekistan and Uruguay will take place at Hang Jebat Stadium in Kuala Lumpur. Kick-off is scheduled for 17:45 Tashkent time. The Uzbekistan national team has already arrived in Malaysia and is finalizing preparations for the game.
