Candidacy of Vladimir Norov proposed for post of SCO Secretary General

The Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization at a meeting in Beijing on 24 April proposed the candidacy of Vladimir Norov (Uzbekistan) for the post of SCO Secretary General to the Council of Heads of State of the SCO. This was stated in a message of the SCO Secretariat.
It is expected that Vladimir Norov, after approval of his candidacy, will head the SCO from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2021.
Rashid Alimov (Tajikistan) is the Secretary General of the SCO for the period from 1 January 2016 until the end of 2018.
