Campaign “Study English with parents” ends in Uzbekistan
The campaign was organized by British Council in cooperation with Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan, UNICEF and Republican scientific-practical center for developing of innovative methods on teaching foreign languages at the Uzbek State University of World Language. The campaign took place from 27 September to 30 October and was oriented to schoolchildren, their parents and teachers from Tashkent city and other regions of Uzbekistan.
The campaign was directed at raising awareness of parents on existing resources for learning English with the children outside of school time, and encouraging involvement of parents in the education of children. This will help to attract all family to education process.
Mark Crossey, director of British Council, underlined that knowledge of foreign languages is very important for future development and professional growth of children and it is important to increase their interest to foreign languages. The campaign is good opportunity to realize these goals. “We are happy that large number of children and parents participated in the campaign with enthusiasm,” he added.
Researches show that children remember time, spent with their parents. So, the campaign included various events and contests, which were attended by children, parents and teachers.
Three pilot schools of Tashkent participated in the event. About 3,000 children and their parents, 50 teachers of schools, 9 trainers on modern methods of teaching English language, 11 partner organizations and about 200 people at social networks attended the campaign.
Interesting English language for children and children were organized at three pilot schools, where participants studied English language with help of games, songs and interesting lessons. National Library of Uzbekistan hosted open trainings for children and parents. NEXT mall hosted entertainment events Grow with English on weekends.
Shukhrat Tursunov, manager of Huawei Device Uzbekistan, said that use of modern information and communication technologies makes education more accessible, easier and interesting. He said that Huawei Device Uzbekistan is happy to support this campaign.
The campaign included a painting contest and the winners were awarded with prizes from British Council, Huawei and partners. The paintings were presented at the closing ceremony of the campaign at National Library of Uzbekistan.
The campaign was wrapped up with English language songs contest and awarding ceremony of active participants.
