Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - In connection with the announcement of quarantine as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan, together with the Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office, took tight control of food prices and essential medical supplies in the country.

A special working headquarters has been created in the bodies of the State Tax Service of Uzbekistan with the participation of employees of the State Tax Inspectorates (STI), departments, and also the STC.

A detailed list of all major shopping centers, markets, manufacturers of goods, wholesale suppliers and pharmacies has been compiled. Each of them is assigned the responsible staff of the headquarters of the State Tax Service, which from today are closely monitoring the preservation of price stability.

The leadership of the STC, consisting of the chairman and all his deputies, went to the markets and large shopping centers of the capital on 16 March to study demand, supply, prices of goods and monitor their stability.

Work is underway to provide guarantee letters to entrepreneurs of the State Tax Service about not raising prices for products sold and maintaining market stability.

Since the quarantine was announced by 13:00 on 16 March, a total of 247 requests from citizens regarding unreasonable price increases have been received to the helpline and Call Center of the State Tax Committee. 80% of them were quickly resolved positively, and the remaining 20% are now undergoing preventive measures.
