BYD Uzbekistan Secures Fine Against GASGO OIL for Brand Discreditation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Following a complaint from the joint venture BYD Uzbekistan Factory LLC, the Competition Development Committee imposed a financial penalty on the joint venture GASGO OIL LLC.

In its statement, BYD Uzbekistan noted that GASGO OIL engaged in unfair competition and disseminated false advertising that discredited the products of another market participant.

Under Article 16 of the Law “On Advertising,” advertisements must not contain elements that defame the goods or services of others.

A special commission of the Committee initiated proceedings for violations of the law and, based on its findings, decided to impose a financial fine on GASGO OIL LLC.

In addition, the company was issued a mandatory order to rectify the violations and prevent similar actions in the future.

During the investigation, it was established that GASGO OIL’s advertisements on its official social media pages contained content that disparaged the BYD brand, causing reputational damage to BYD Uzbekistan Factory LLC.

Any party disagreeing with the special commission’s decision has the right to appeal to the Committee’s Appeals Council or through judicial proceedings.
