BYD Uzbekistan Plans 10 New EV Models by 2030

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — BYD’s factory in Uzbekistan plans to introduce around ten new electric and hybrid vehicle models by 2030, according to Azizbek Mukhitdinov, CEO of the BYD Uzbekistan Factory, in an interview with O’zbekiston 24.

In 2026, the plant aims to produce 40,000 vehicles, doubling output compared to 2025. Following three-star certification, production of the Yuan Up electric crossover has commenced, with the full production cycle expected to be operational by year-end.

For context, 368 Yuan Up units were sold in Uzbekistan in 2024, 6,800 in 2025, and 25,000 are planned for 2026. The CEO noted that achieving a full production cycle for a model within one year is exceptionally fast, with significant technological support and process standardization provided by BYD.

By 2030, the factory plans to expand annual production of electric and hybrid vehicles to 200,000 units, supported by approximately US$200 million in investments and creating around 10,000 jobs in Jizzakh region.

The BYD Uzbekistan Factory joint venture was established in September 2023 between BYD and Uzavtosanoat. The first phase targeted 50,000 vehicles annually, with gradual increases to 300,000 units, including exports. Vehicle production began in June 2024, coinciding with the Uzbek president’s visit to China.

In 2025, the factory quintupled output to 20,200 vehicles. Subsequent project phases plan investments of US$300 million to reach 200,000 units and US$500 million to expand production up to 500,000 vehicles.
