Businesses without modern meters not to receive gas, electricity from 2018

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan banned supply of electricity and natural gas to business entities, which did not install modern electronic meters.

The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On improving system of accounting consumption of electricity and natural gas” on 2 November 2015.

The resolution said that Uzbekenergo and Uztransgas are implementing projects on introduction of automated system of accounting consumption of electricity and natural gas.

The document noted that the Government bans supply of electricity and gas to legal entities, which did not install modern electronic meters, complying with the automated system of accounting consumption of electricity and natural gas, from 1 January 2018.

According to the resolution, legal entities will finance installation of modern electronic meters of electricity and natural gas.

Uzbekenergo and Uztransgas, as well as UzStandard Agency were entrusted to develop and approve single technical requirements to modern electronic meters of electricity and gas by 1 January 2017.
