Business Ombudsman Takes Control of Case Involving Entrepreneur Who Reported Corruption in Construction

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Business Ombudsman has responded to social media reports about pressure on entrepreneur Usmonjon Abdusamadov, who spoke out about corruption cases in the construction sector.

The institution emphasized that the situation is under control and that the businessman will not face punishment for his critical statements.

“This case is regarded as persecution of the entrepreneur,” the statement reads.

The Ombudsman’s office reminded that the law guarantees freedom of entrepreneurial activity and protection of the rights of every businessperson. Addressing the challenges faced by private sector representatives is one of the agency’s top priorities.

Particular attention in the statement was given to the need for state bodies to take entrepreneurs’ opinions seriously. The institution underlined that criticism and open expression should be seen as an important contribution to the development of reforms and enhancing their effectiveness.

“If an entrepreneur voices a position in the interest of the industry, this should not become grounds for punishment. On the contrary, such statements should be treated as an opportunity to address problems,” the Business Ombudsman noted.

In conclusion, the Ombudsman stressed readiness to promptly consider such complaints and ensure the protection of entrepreneurs’ rights.
