Business circles of Uzbekistan and Switzerland discuss implementation of joint projects
Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia, Cyril Muller said that over the past 18 months further liberalization of Uzbekistan’s economic policy has been carried out, in particular, changes in the banking and financial systems, taxation and free conversion have increased the country’s economic image.
He noted that Uzbekistan has improved its position in the rating of the favorable business environment of the World Bank from 100 place in 2015 to 74 in 2017. He said that an increase of 26 positions in two years is a good indicator and serves as a serious factor for attracting foreign investors.
Within the framework of the business forum, the presentation of the economic potential of Uzbekistan was held. Guests from Switzerland got acquainted with investment opportunities, export, transport, logistics and tourism potential of Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek side offered new investment projects to partners from Switzerland. Representatives of Uzbekistan and Switzerland discussed the establishment of effective cooperation and bilateral cooperation between regional bodies, the exchange of experience with leading Swiss companies, the attraction of technical assistance to improve the skills of health professionals, the textile and construction industries.
At the end of the event, a number of memorandums were signed on mutual cooperation in the areas of trade, health, light industry, the banking and financial system.
