British Council announces winners of two contests

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The final stage of Republican contest “The best innovative idea” and awarding ceremony of the English language contest “I wanna talk about” was held at International Business Center in Tashkent on 22 November 2013.

British Council in Uzbekistan organized the contests in cooperation with the Center for secondary special professional education of Uzbekistan.

The contest “The best innovative idea” allowed students of colleges to develop their entrepreneurship skills such as marketing, social needs, business planning, financial activates, market research, etc.

This year, the contest attracted 120 professional colleges of Uzbekistan. Each team had five people – four students and a teacher.

The qualification round was held in two stages. In the first stage, the contest was held within the colleges and later they competed in the regional stage.

Fourteen teams, which won in the qualification stage, were invited to participate in the Republican stage in Tashkent.

The jury of the contest familiarized with the works of the teams and selected the winner. The jury announced that Karakalpakstan won the first place in the contest.

Karakalpakstan’s team will be recommended to participate at the international contest of young entrepreneurs.

The contest for the best story in English language “I wanna talk about” is directed at popularizing electronic resource and studying English language in Uzbekistan.

The contest is carried out among students of professional colleges and lyceums in Uzbekistan in two stages. The first stage was regional qualification round and the participants should make public speech. About 500 students participated in the contest.

Two best participations of the qualification round advanced to the republican stage. Some 30 students wrote stories in the second stage.

Nilufar Ruzieva from Navoi region won the contest. Shahina Bahramova from Tashkent city was the second and Shahzod Hudoyberdiev from Jizzakh region was the third.

The winners of the contest received prizes from Ucell, mobile communication operator.
