Branch of Tuscia University in Samarkand to begin classes in January 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The official opening of the Tuscia University branch in Samarkand will take place on 30 September, with the first classes at the new institution scheduled for January next year, the Dunyo news agency reported.
The announcement was made by Professor Stefano Ubertini, Rector of the Italian university, during his meeting with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Abat Fayzullayev. During the talks, both sides confirmed the start of the agreement with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture to establish a joint university campus based on the Samarkand Institute of Agro-Innovations and Research.
According to the rector, students at the new university will be able to study Agricultural Sciences and Food Technology at the undergraduate level, as well as Agricultural Sciences and Bioeconomy at the graduate level. The programs also include opportunities to study part of the curriculum in Italy under a joint educational framework.
“For the first time in history, among Italian agricultural universities, Tuscia University will open a foreign branch,” Ubertini emphasized.
Both sides expressed their readiness to continue dialogue to expand cooperation between Uzbekistan and Italy.
The Italian side highlighted the university’s interest in sharing knowledge on modern agricultural technologies with Uzbek students and promoting Italy’s expertise in the agrarian sector.
