Boriy Alikhanov: “When transporting electricity to remote settlements, we lose up to 30–35% of energy”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As reported, on 31 May, the Agency of Information and Mass Communications held an interview with the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber, Boriy Alikhanov, and a dialogue with media representatives.
During the event, information was provided on the social, economic and environmental benefits of renewable energy sources. “When transporting electricity to remote settlements in the traditional way, we lose up to 30–35% of energy. At the same time, by applying renewable energy technologies in remote areas, and by installing photo power plants using solar energy in the same villages, we can achieve real energy savings,” he said.
Boriy Alikhanov said: “Firstly, it is cost effective. Secondly, we get environmentally friendly and electricity, and heat.” “Every year around the world from the processing of energy sources released into the air 2 million 200 thousand tons of harmful substances that pollute the atmosphere,” he added.
“This has a negative impact on humans and other bio-organisms, provoking various diseases. For this reason, the flora and fauna of our planet suffer. There is a degradation of land, water, air pollution. Disposal of oil and gas waste also leads to economic damage. All this shows the environmental benefits of renewable energy,” Boriy Alikhanov said.
“In Uzbekistan, not only solar or wind energy is promising. In some areas there is a potential for the use of bio-thermal energy, and in places where livestock farming is successfully developing, there is the possibility of obtaining biogas,” he underlined.
