Blogger Receives Preventive Warning in Uzbekistan Following Online Scandal
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A scandal erupted in Uzbekistan involving a 19-year-old blogger who, after a fire, announced a fundraiser for housing reconstruction and later reported purchasing a new car.
The situation sparked outrage among social media users. The blogger subsequently posted a video stating that the car had been given to her as a gift.
Shokhrukh Giyasov, spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, stated that the blogger was invited to a police station for a preventive discussion.
During the conversation, the young woman admitted that her actions were aimed at increasing her follower count and obtaining material or other benefits on social media.
The ministry emphasized that, to date, no official complaints regarding her actions had been received. “If appeals are submitted by citizens dissatisfied with the blogger’s actions or claiming a violation of their material interests, the matter will be reviewed and appropriate measures will be taken,” Giyasov noted.
The blogger was informed that such actions generate artificial public resonance and provoke a negative reaction from the public.
