Reconstruction of Bibi Orifa Mausoleum has been launched at the memorial complex of Bakhauddin Naqshbandi (Kagan district of Bukhara region) on the initiative of the chairperson of Mehr Nuri Foundation Gulnara Karimova.
Bibi Orifa Mausoleum is part of Bahauddin Naqshand Memorial Complex located in Kagan District (Bukhara Region). The reconstruction work, an initiative of Gulnara Karimova, started in 2012.
The mausoleum was built in honor of the mother of Bahauddin Naqshband, a Sufi teacher and the founder of one of the major Sufi spiritual orders, Naqshbandi. His mother, Bibi Orifa, was known for her erudition and devotion to Islam.
Now that the religious site has been given its original looks, it is easier to get around to for tourists and pilgrims, who travel to Bukhara, also known as the Holy City.
During the ceremony, national chapans (robes) were handed over to masters, who participated in the reconstruction of the mausoleum.
The opening ceremony was attended by Uzbek and foreign celebrities, representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations, religious organizations, and others.
Launched in 2005 by Mehr Nuri Foundation, the Program of Support for Spiritual Enlightenment is an effort to preserve and enrich Uzbekistan’s spiritual legacy, help modernize the educational system and boost tolerance and mutual understanding in society.
This major project seeks to provide material and technical support for spiritual education schools through supplying them with books, school and office equipment and appliances. Also, the most promising students have been honored with one-off stipends. Since 2012, students have received scholarships during one academic year. Over the past 8 years, the Foundation has provided 11 Islamic educational institutions with 114.869 million soums worth of material support.
