Belarus Aims to Bring Trade Turnover with Uzbekistan to US$2 Billion by 2030
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Turchin, speaking at a meeting with Uzbekistan's Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, announced plans to substantially expand economic cooperation between the two countries.
He noted that Uzbekistan is one of Belarus's key partners not only in Central Asia but more broadly, and that the foundation of their successful cooperation is the trust-based dialogue between the two heads of state.
"The Government sees its key objectives as not only monitoring and overseeing the implementation of agreements already reached, but also the steady generation of new initiatives, including the upcoming summit meeting planned for this year," Alexander Turchin said.
In the lead-up to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to Belarus, a bilateral cooperation roadmap is planned to be drawn up. The Prime Minister emphasized an ambitious target of bringing bilateral trade turnover to US$2 billion by 2030.
"We already have nearly one billion dollars in trade turnover, which speaks to the high potential of our economies. A whole series of major projects are currently being implemented," he added.
