Bakhmal — the Gem of Jizzakh Region’s Tourism

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of a press tour, media representatives and tour operators visited the region to explore the tourism potential of Bakhmal, one of Uzbekistan’s most picturesque areas.

Special attention was given to the development of eco-tourism and pilgrimage tourism, which have become the district’s signature attractions.

Bakhmal is renowned for its mountains, historical sites, and sacred places, which attract thousands of pilgrims and travelers each year. The district is home to more than ten pilgrimage sites, including the shrines of Novka Ota and Usmat Ota, as well as over 60 archaeological monuments of historical significance.

During the tour, participants visited the Novka tourist village, where they experienced local life and traditional crafts, took part in the Bakhmal Festival, and tasted the famous Bakhmal apples — a symbol of the district. Guests were also introduced to the upgraded tourist infrastructure: Bakhmal currently offers 33 accommodation facilities with a total of 675 beds, including guest houses, campsites, hostels, and a sanatorium.

By the end of 2025, the district is expected to receive around 45,000 foreign and 170,000 domestic tourists.

Sports tourism is also developing: in the village of Jum-Jum, a modern sports facility hosts international competitions in long-distance hiking, attracting athletes from various countries.

Investments in the tourism sector continue, with nine new projects underway in 2025 — four of which are already operational, while work on the remaining projects is ongoing.

These initiatives are making Bakhmal increasingly attractive for leisure, pilgrimage, and investment, reinforcing its status as a gem of tourism in Jizzakh Region.
